Orlando is one of the most popular destination spots in the United States, and for good reason. The city is home to some of the most well-known theme parks in the world, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. And while these theme parks are a major draw for many visitors, Orlando has so much more to offer. The city is also home to a number of family-friendly resorts that are perfect for a relaxing vacation. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at some of the best family-friendly resorts in Orlando. So the next time you’re looking for a vacation spot that the whole family will enjoy, you’ll know exactly where to go!
We’re a family of five, and we went to Orlando to celebrate the weekend our oldest turned 18! It was a big milestone, so we wanted to get together as a family and make it a memorable one. We hit up two resorts, JW Marriott Grand Lakes Orlando and the Ritz Carlton Resort Pool and Cabana, so let’s break it down so you can know exactly how great they both are!
JW Marriott Grand Lakes Orlando
The JW Marriott Grand Lakes Orlando is a great place to stay if you have a family. It’s close to Disney, so you can easily go there for fun, which is what we did for most of the day, but there’s also plenty to do on-site!
The thing that blew us away though was the family suite! We had the family suite so we were still close to the kids while everyone got a little bit of privacy. Not only did they put an incredible amount of thought into the main room (the parent’s room) but also the kid’s space too! There was a bunk bed and a king-sized bed, so all three of the kids had a little space to themselves and didn’t end up getting too up in anyone’s business. It kept any unexpected sibling quarrels at bay so that was great!
With the restrooms, things just went one step further. There were three restrooms, so there was always at least one restroom available to use!
However, arguably the best part of it all was the view. It was breathtaking!
We even ended up taking advantage of the lazy river to wind down the day before heading out for dinner at the Highball and Harvest!
This dinner was amazing! The snapper was cooked perfectly, and the Brussel sprouts were crispy and flavorful. The macaroons for dessert were light and fluffy, and they melted in my mouth. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. The service was attentive and professional, and the food was top-notch. It was definitely a meal none of us are going to forget anytime soon!
Ritz Carlton Resort Pool and Cabana
The next day, we headed over to The Ritz Carlton Resort. The Ritz Carlton pool and cabana in Orlando are the perfect places to relax and enjoy the Florida sunshine. The pool is heated, so you can take a dip no matter what the weather is like outside.
The cabana has comfortable lounge chairs and a television so that you can relax in style. If you’re feeling active, there’s also a volleyball court and a putting green.
And when you get hungry, you can order food and drinks from the poolside bar. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a fun, relaxing day by the pool.
The resort also offers custom mocktails, so we enjoyed a refreshing drink while relaxing by the pool because we wanted to have the most relaxing time we could possibly have throughout the weekend.
We decided to have dinner the second night of our stay at Primo. This was the actual 18th birthday meal so we wanted it to be super special, and it was!
We were treated to an exquisite dinner prepared by the award-winning chef Melissa Kelly. The meal began with a light but flavourful starter of pan-roasted local catch cedar key clams in an heirloom tomato ragout, accompanied by field peas, charred corn, and grilled octopus.
To finish off the meal, we indulged in the house gelato and sorbet, as well as the warm apple crostata with pomegranate nectar salter caramel candied nuts. Each dish was more delicious than the last. They even had an extensive wine list that those that do indulge in that could try too! Overall, it was an unforgettable dining experience that we will always cherish, making it a perfect end to our amazing vacation with the family!
